Intro:

France made it through to the quarter-finals of Euro 2012 on Tuesday, despite losing 2-0 in their final Group D game against Sweden at the Olimpiyski Stadium in Kiev, Ukraine.

Script:

There was contentment among both France and Sweden supporters as they left Kiev's Olympic Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Sweden beat France 2-0, however it is the Swedes that will be leaving the competition after disappointing losses in their first two fixtures.

France advanced to the quarter-finals as group runners-up behind England, who defeated co-hosts Ukraine 1-0 in Donetsk.

SOUNDBITE (English) Biern Anderson, Swedish fan:
"I feel quite well, actually. Sweden had a really good match today. But despite the fact that we lost the first two games, I think they made a really good effort today on the pitch."

France will need to perform a lot better in the last eight against defending champions Spain.

SOUNDBITE (English) Donaldas, French fan:
"Actually, we played the same kind of game we did before, but we were less lucky and the Swedish team were stronger. And you know, we are playing with only small gather, try to go like handball and it's not football, so I think if we continue like this it will be 5-0 for spain, so I'm not very happy tonight, but in the end we are second, so that's it."

France and Spain go head to head in Donetsk on Saturday the 23rd of June.
