From match-fixing to injuries and poor preparation, Italy are carrying a long list of problems to its UEFA European Championship training base in Krakow, Poland, on Tuesday.

Goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has had his banking records examined on suspicion he made large bets, Leonardo Bonucci is reportedly under investigation for match-fixing.

Beyond all that, the Azzurri have lost their last three friendlies by a combined score of 5-0.

With fresh memories of its first-round elimination from the 2010 World Cup, Italy have only five days to restore order ahead of its opener against defending champions Spain.

SOUNDBITE (Italian)

"Enthusiasm sometimes can be low, but we left from Pisa to come here and you saw how many people were there, today there are 10.000 people coming to see us training, so it's the people who give us enthusiasm. The other night in Zurich, despite our defeat, the atmosphere was extraordinary. It depends from us, from our attitude and obviously from our results, but we have to hold on tight to this enthusiasm, because it's precious."

SUPER CAPTION: Cesare Prandelli, Italy coach

Prandelli's Italy will also face Croatia and Ireland, who are coached by Giovanni Trapattoni in Group C.

While Italy have won four World Cup titles, the team has won the European Championship only once, back in 1968.
