Gerrard vows to continue as captain of England after Three Lions fly home
In the spotlight: Gerrard and Hodgson prepare to face the media following Sunday's exit from Euro 2012

Gerrard said: 'I think performance wise I am reasonably satisfied but it still doesn't crack over the pain and hurt.

'I'm in a zone of frustration and disappointment because we came so close to ending the quarter-final hoodoo.

'I've loved every minute of it. I gave it my best shot. I've had a brief chat with the manager, I'm available as long as I'm wanted at this level. The manager has told me he wants me to continue and carry on.'

'I think the supporters will agree that we played for the shirt and we gave it a lot of effort.'

Gerrard admitted England had not played the best football at Euro 2012 and needed to work harder at retaining the ball.
