The Spanish may have become accustomed to success on the football field in recent years.
But for residents of Madrid, if Spain win a third major international title in four years on Sunday, victory could taste a little sweeter.
The San Onofre bakery have prepared a variety of football themed cakes ahead of Spain's European Championship final against Italy.
Iker Casillas and Andres Iniesta have proved to be the popular choices so far.
Even if Vicente del Bosque's side fail to defend their European crown in Kiev, shop manager Mercedes Plaza will carry on serving the tasty treats.
SOUNDBITE: (Spanish) Mercedes Plaza, shop manager
"If we win we expect to increase the sales and we will keep on making pastries, that's not a problem. If we don't win we will still make a few more, even if it is just to support them somehow."
It is not only the bakeries that are profiting from Spain's European campaign, street market stalls have also enjoyed a boost in sales of football souvenirs.
It seems like Spain is preparing for another football fiesta...
