Spanish fans were dancing in the streets of Donetsk on Saturday night after watching their team advance to the semi-finals of Euro 2012 with a 2-0 win over France.

The reigning European and world champions never looked in any danger against a poor French team and their supporters are now looking forward to a showdown with Portugal in the semi-finals.

SOUNDBITE (Spanish), Alberto Rinares, Spanish supporter

"I am very happy, this is another semi-final for the team. Spain is moving forward in this tournament. Wednesday, we will be back here to play Portugal, and we are hoping to send Cristiano Ronaldo home as well, and play in final on July 1st in Kiev."

As for the French it was an unhappy ending to a tournament which had promised so much and some fans were very disappointed with their team's performance against Spain.

SOUNDBITE (French), Philippe Bourgeois, French supporter

"It is not really a team, just a bunch of individuals, everyone plays for himself. I am completely outraged. I am sure we could have played actual football, but we haven't. I think that with the match between Spain and Portugal, we will finally see some real football. With France, there is some action in the locker room but not on the pitch. I am so disappointed."

Spain will play Portugal in the semi-finals on Wednesday, while France can now turn their attention towards the start of their World Cup qualification campaign in September.
