The reigning European champions have produced some mixed performances so far, thrashing the Republic of Ireland 4-0 but struggling against Italy and Croatia.

Despite their patchy form they finished top of Group C and their reward is a last eight tie with France in Ukraine.

Spain, who have spent the entire tournament in Poland thus far, were presented with bread and salt on their arrival, traditional greeting gifts in Donetsk.

Saturday's clash at the Donbass Arena will be the first since France's match with Ukraine had to be postponed for nearly an hour following a thunder storm.
