"We require a good team performance from him. We want him to help us be a better team. We want him to help us win the game of football. I have been very impressed with the way he has gone about his work in training and talking to some of the younger players, like Steve (Gerrard) does, and playing a major part as one of the senior players in the group. I don't have any fears in that respect. I am certain that he know how important the occasion is, not just for himself, but more importantly, he knows how important the occasion is for his team mates."

"Everyone knows what Wayne Rooney is all about. He certainly makes us a lot more threatening going forward. He is a world class player. I know Wayne quite well. I am quite close to him and I can see it in his eyes that he is itching to get out there and perform. Hopefully he can play really well on Tuesday and be the difference."

"Dreaming is what football is all about. Expectations are always going to be what international football is about. I think we have got to be happy that the expectations have risen and that people are now believing that we can go a bit further than what they believed at the start of the competition. That doesn't mean to say that we can guarantee success and it doesn't say that we can guarantee that we will fulfil these expectations. It is nice to know that after our first couple of games, that there is a lot more belief in the team. I know the team has belief in itself."
