Lars Bender, who scored the winning goal for Germany in their 2-1 victory over Denmark in Euro 2012 Group B on Sunday spoke to the media on Monday.

It was a first international goal for the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder, who will now be looking to keep his place in the team.

"Yeah, Boeteng needing a longer break? Well suffice to say I was happy to have been given a chance and I was happy to do my bit for the team's success and put in a good performance. Now what kind of decision (Joachim) Loew takes is really beyond me, I just hope to present myself in training, as I've grown used to doing. The important thing is that Joachim Loew now knows that if he puts his trust in me, he is doing the right thing."

The win sealed a quarter-final with Group A runners-up Greece, and Bender believes they could be in for another tough match against a defensive team.

"If we want to survive the next round then there will be different games where we have more space available and more freedom and we are the kind of team that can exploit these spaces. Now Greece, we expect them to play just as defensively as Denmark for example, so there will be quite a defensive strategy set up by them and we have to take our chances better than we did.

Bender and Germany face Greece at the Arena Gdansk in Poland on Friday.
