Intro:

Russia left Warsaw, Poland on Sunday morning following their shock exit from the European Championship at the hands of Greece.

Script:

So much was expected of Russia after they began their Euro 2012 campaign with a fine attacking performance and a 4-1 win over the Czech Republic.
Dick Advocaat's men failed to match that standard in their second game in Group A , a 1-1 draw with tournament co-hosts Poland.
But the worst was yet to come, a 1-0 defeat to Euro 2004 winners Greece on Saturday saw Russia fail to reach the last eight of the competition.
Russia dominated the first half of the match, but Greece captain Giorgios Karagounis put his side ahead just before half-time.
Failing to equalise in the second half, Russia finished level on points with Greece in the final group standings.
Although Russia had a superior goal difference, the head-to-head ruling saw Greece advance to the quarter-finals behind group winners the Czech Republic.
The Czech Republic will face the runners-up of Group B and Greece will face Group B's winners.
