It may have been hard for Russia to concentrate on football during training on Wednesday.

UEFA have hit the Russian Football Union with a suspended six point deduction for Euro 2016 qualifying and a fine of €120,000 for the 'improper conduct' of their supporters during the European Championship in Poland and Ukraine.

Violent clashes between Russian and Polish hooligans dominated the headlines following the two nation's 1-1 draw in Group A on Tuesday.

It wasn't the first incident of violence involving Russian supporters after a group of Russians hospitalised four stewards in the aftermath of their opening match against Czech Republic last week.

During the same game, Russian fans threw fireworks on to the pitch and far-right banners were spotted in the crowd.

Russia could face further sanctions for the behaviour of their fans before Tuesday's match against Poland.

The Russian Football Union are under pressure to deal with supporter behaviour before they host the World Cup in 2018.

On the pitch, Russia remain top of Group A with four points and only need a draw against Greece on Saturday to seal their spot in the quarter-finals, but their tournament is in danger of being overshadowed by violence.
