Thomas Herzog from the Spanish Fans' Embassy of Football Supporters Europe (FSE) has called for players to walk off the pitch if racist abuse is heard at the European Championships.

Herzog made his comments on Tuesday (12th June) after monkey chants ware allegedly made by Spanish supporters towards Italian striker Mario Balotelli during the 1-1 draw between Spain and Italy on Sunday (10th June).

(Q: Do you think that UEFA need to be more active on dealing with racism?)

"Well I think UEFA is now acting quite good so in this case I don't think it is necessary to punish the (Spanish) federation because this match, yeah this situation was so positive because of the Spanish supporters who were acting against these monkey chants and I think the best in this case would be that UEFA talks with the (Spanish) federation in order to act more directly."

"Yes I think also the football players have to do more and for example it's, I don't think that a black football player has to leave the pitch, the whole team has to show solidarity and also the referees (need to act). We have to be more consequent, so this could be a way."
