Giovanni Trapattoni holds firm for Spain

Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni said on Monday he wouldn't rush into making changes for their next Euro 2012 match against the holders and world champions Spain at the PGE Arena in Gdansk on Thursday.

The Republic of Ireland held a light training session at the Municipal Stadium in Gdynia, Poland on Monday afternoon after they flew back from Poznan in the early hours of the morning.

Centre-back Richard Dunne didn't take part in training because of blisters, Darron Gibson was also rested, but both are set to be fit for the game against Spain on Thursday.

Giovanni Trapattoni's side lost 3-1 to Croatia in their opening Group C game at the UEFA European Championships.

But even so , he says he won't be making many changes for their Spain game.

"This psychological situation, a manager coach must, must not have to understand, must understand because I have two duties - duty to change if (there is an) opportunity or duty (to) give again confidence about, create a good reaction, a positive reaction with these players, also with the team. That is important."

Ireland play world champions Spain in Gdansk on Thursday.
