As for the Irish it was a disappointing night, with some supporters feeling a bit hard done by with Croatia's second goal.

SOUNDBITE (English) Adrian Peat, Ireland fan from County Meath, Ireland: "I am very disappointed, I think the second goal was an offside, the Croatian second goal was definitely an offside goal and that kind of messed it up for us in the game."

Ireland will now have to get a positive result against reigning champions Spain in their next match on Thursday if they are to have any chance of getting out of the group.
