Having played their part in a thrilling opening day of the European Championship, Poland returned to their training pitch in Warsaw on Saturday.

Franciszek Smuda's side started brightly against Greece on Friday (June 8th), with Robert Lewandowski firing the 'White Eagles' ahead in the first half.

The Greeks then had a man sent off before equalizing and missing a penalty after goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny was shown red for the home side.

In the end both sides settled for a draw and striker Lewandowski said the Poles should have killed the game off.

SOUNDBITE: (Polish) Robert Lewandowski, Poland striker (on the game against Greece):

"We knew that we needed to score a second again. Unfortunately the Greeks scored instead and then they had the penalty. I think that we didn't take advantage of the situation in the first half and they gained revenge in the second half."

Poland face Russia - 4-1 winners over the Czech Republic in the other match in Group A - in their second game in Warsaw on Tuesday (June 12th).
