The English public may not expect too much from their national side, but the players will be focused on proving people wrong at the European Championship.
Unlike their Group D rivals France, England enjoyed good weather when they trained in Krakow on Friday.
Roy Hodgson has already had to face an injury crisis and selection controversy during his short time in the hotseat and he will be without Wayne Rooney for the first two group games.
On top of that, Jermaine Defoe has had to return home due to the death of his father, but the Spurs striker is expected to return to the squad this weekend.
The first of those matches will be played against France at the Donbass Arena in Donetsk on Monday.
The French are unbeaten in 21 matches and will pose a tough test for England.
After their opening game, the Three Lions will face Sweden on Friday and co-hosts Ukraine the following Tuesday.
It is certainly not a straightforward group for Hodgson to lead his players out of.
