Philip Lahm will hope that it is as easy to remember how to play on the left side of defence rather than the right.
The Germany captain is set to switch to left-back due to injury problems in the German backline but the Bayern Munich defender understands the role he will play in Joachim Low's side.
SOUNDBITE (German) Philipp Lahm, German captain
"It was decided that I will play on the left side. I had a meeting with our head coach and he wants me to play left of defence. He will always have the decision where I should play. I think we should not depend on single players. We have to look on ourselves. And I proved in Euro 2008 that I can even switch from one side to the other in one match. That is no problem for me and I will always do what the team needs."
Lahm could be set for a pretty difficult challenge in Germany's opening match on Saturday - the 28-year-old may be given the job of keeping Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo quiet for ninety minutes.
