Intro:

There have been many negative headlines in western Europe regarding racism, intolerance and violence in Ukraine.

But the message from the country's tournament director for Euro 2012 was that things are improving.

At a press conference in Kiev on Tuesday, Markiyan Lubkivskiy stressed that Ukraine was a "safe country", despite former England captain Sol Campbell suggesting that black and Asian fans could be risking their lives, travelling to the country.

Lubkivskiy was optimistic that all fans would feel safe and comfortable in the country.

(Regarding disabled visitors): "We are changing the perception of the world. We are changing our attitude to people who need help. We do not decide one day solve to all problems, and they will stay with us after EURO 2012, but the project UEFA is the first step."

"We have no predictions and hints that the tourists in Ukraine will be uncomfortable. Believe me, we spent a lot of time to prepare for this tournament. And I want to invite all to Ukraine. Ukraine - a safe country. Ukraine now solves many problems, but we all look forward to see and do everything to ensure that all safety and comfort (needs are met)."
