With Euro 2012 about to start, the German team had a welcome distraction as Mercedes Formula One drivers Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg came to visit on Wednesday.
The National football side were at a training camp near Nice in France, but Lukas Podolski was quick to grab the opportunity to take a ride with the F1 heroes in one of Mercedes' top machines.
SOUNDBITE (German): Lukas Podolski:
"I think when you have training sessions twice a day and you are always busy, this is something different, a relief. We already had the privilege to drive with Mercedes back in 2010. It was a lot of fun and I hope we will have the opportunity to take another ride now."
Marco Reus was also enjoying the downtime and says it helps the team perform better on the pitch.
SOUNDBITE (German): Marco Reus:
"We are feeling very good. It's a very hard training, but in the meantime we do also have relaxed phases, so that we are able to re-energise. Today, the weather is top (nice) for the first time and it is a lot of fun to practice. So, we are hoping that it will go on like this."
On Sunday, the German team will have a final treat as they watch Schumacher live in action at the Monaco Grand Prix.
