Euro 2012 is now less than two months away - and the excitement in host nations Poland and Ukraine is reaching fever pitch.

But before the first match kicks off, football fans in the two countries will have a chance to get up close and personal with one of the most famous pieces of silverware in football.

The iconic Henri Delaunay trophy, named in honour of the first General Secretary of UEFA, has been awarded to the winning team since 1960.

The coveted silverware toured the streets of the Polish capital, Warsaw, on a car roof, allowing fans a glimpse of football history.

Euro 2012 ambassador Christian Karembeu won the tournament with France in 2000, and cites it as a career high.

SOUNDBITE (English): former France international Christian Karembeu, Euro 2012 ambassador: "This trophy means a lot to me and, of course, it was one of my best titles in Europe and it's a great moment that we can achieve all together. This competition can start and so, I think, that it's already starting because the trophy is here in Poland and it's going to travel to Ukraine."

Accompanied by mascots Slavek and Slavko, the trophy made a tour of a children's hospital and will spend the weekend at the Palace of Culture and Science, before finishing it's journey at Odessa on Ukraine's coast on May 26th.
